Call for Nominations
The International Association of Bioethics (IAB) is pleased to announce a call for nominations for positions on the IAB Board of Directors. The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, establishes policy, oversees governance and operations, supports the IAB international networks, and engages in timely initiatives to foster bioethics efforts world-wide. Of the 15 seats on the Board, 3 will be up for election for a term of 4-years (2024-2028).
The opportunity to serve the global IAB membership is deeply rewarding and represents a time-commitment that candidates should consider. The commitment requires attending virtual Board meetings and may also include chairing sessions at the World Congress of Bioethics; collaborating with regional World Health Organization offices; guest editing a special issue of the journal, Bioethics; and leading IAB efforts to award excellence in bioethics service, mentor early career researchers, and support IAB networks.
New Board members will be welcomed and mentored by current members and there is a spirit of collaboration and mutual support among Directors. Board membership is voluntary and there is no remuneration for service, but participation on the Board offers invaluable opportunities for networking and building relationships with colleagues that span the globe.
Candidates must be current IAB members and must be nominated and seconded by IAB members. If your membership has lapsed or you would like to join for the first time, click here to join IAB. Candidates must demonstrate a strong bioethics background, including international expertise; leadership; communication; and teamwork skills. For 2024, there are open spots available in all world regions.
Nominations for positions on the Board of Directors open on February 1 and close March 1st, 2024 ; to deposit your candidacy, please complete this survey (link opens February 1st). Nominated candidates will be sent an email confirming their interest and must respond no later than March 1. Please note that only those who are IAB members (at the time of voting) are eligible to vote in IAB elections.
